from Susan Bussert's Oklahoma City estate by her husband's great grandmother Mother Smith Bussert, one of 17 children from Oswattamee, KS and her daughter Sarilda Mae Smith. Sarilda developed a large goiter on her neck and refused surgery because they were Christian Scientists and choked to death. Her brother Charles also died when they refused surgery on his hot appendix. Father Claude Smith did cabinetry and repaired woodwork, grew a large garden with chickens and fruit trees and supplied all the needy with food. Copy of family portrait included.

Jeffries family of 8 girls. Born in 1894 in Violet Hill AR. Gave to daughter Mary Wayne Smith for her wedding to Ewin Southard July 22, 1934 at Calico Rock, AR. Mint. 44x48 + 7" fringe $89.95

19 hand embroidered Crazy Squares from ties with enough fabric and foundation material for sveral crazy quilts by Jessie Smith (Mrs. Stinchcomb's Grandmother) who won AK Golden Thimble Award and 13 Blue Ribbons at State Fair. She was a clerk in the Railroad Deport in Calico Rock which is on the Historical Register. She died at age 92 in 1985. 16x20" 19 blocks + extra material. Mint $69.95 (SOLD)

Rare miniature Grandmother’s Flower Garden Depression Crib Quilt by Ecolie Manning born in Frederick, Indian Territory in 1905 with ten siblings on farm. Her dad died when she was nine. Children left 8th grade and started working for local telephone company and then at family cattle auction. Brother Tom was a postal carrier and Ecolie worked at Perkins Department Store. She made this quilt for her baby Doug Manning. Great scalloped borders and tiny hand pieced 7/8” hexagons hand quilted around @ 7-8 st/in. Poor condition but enchanting history. 46x68 $69

Three sisters, Ethel Mayo (1906-1996), Maude Ray (1904-1990) & Effie Trammel (1892-1968) daughters of Wm T & SS Caseny Trammell (1870-1951) came from Arkansas in the Land Run of 1889 and founded the First Christian Church in Oklahoma City which met in a tent. Probably all the sisters’ husbands served in WWII and were killed because the sisters worked their way up the ladder at SW Bell Telephone to become executives and built a house together at 1105 Huntington in Nichols Hills and lived there from 1963 until they died.
